First time playing Sandpiper. I’m a regular player at public and municipal courses, so I’m accustomed to less-than-ideal conditions, especially in the spring. But….the conditions at SP today were the worst I’ve seen in quite a few years. The fairways are terrible - apparently they don’t use fertilizer or weed control chemicals. The greens ran smooth and true, but more than a few had large bare areas. Lastly, the holes are interesting but the layout is weird with back-to-back par 3s and par 5s. In short, this course is a hard pass for me; today was my first, and last, visit. Cleveland Heights is a much better option in Lakeland for about the same in greens fees.

Really great people that work there and the course felt super playable in the most part (some tricky holes and housing obstacles to navigate). I needed to rent clubs as a visitor from abroad for my round and they were available for $15-20 but the quality of the rentals were extremely poor which massively impacted the experience. For $60-70 for a round including rentals it's not bad value though, but improving that would make travelling players like myself extremely excited to come back and play during vacations

I've read a bunch of posts, and just needed to comment as I'm a snowbird and just returned about 3 weeks ago. I feel the greens are in good shape, and don't disagree that the fairways can use some work, I do live and back onto the course, I do see all the work and maintaining of the course daily and commend them on it, and see the improvements coming. Rome wasn't built in a day, and for the price, I feel this is a good course and enjoyable to play. The staff are also great.

Let me start by saying the members of the pro shop were fantastic and super accommodating. The course is in very bad shape, fairways are full of weeds and unkept as are most of the greens. Great people at the course, would be a really great place to play a round if they put some serious TLC into the playing surface.

A very interesting course. Some holes were in great condition and some had some issues but overall looked good. It is a very compact course with lots of holes on top of each other and lots of hazards. As a novice golfer this gave me a bit of anxiety although I kept it in my lane most the time. If you can’t hit it straight consistently, you’ll find yourself in another fairway, someone’s front yard, or the road fairly often so this may not be the greatest starter course. Hole 16 reminds me of a mini golf course with the amount of hazards and placement. If you’re looking for a challenge and unique holes at a good value, this place is great.
